in-n-out

Today Cody & I visited the new In-N-Out in Orem. It opened a couple days ago & has been packed ever since. We were lucky -- there were only 4 cars ahead of us in line when we went . . . at 10 in the MORNING!!!! I would not recommend eating any type of fast food that early, but now we can say that we had a burger opening weekend! Not that that is anything to brag about :)

**Just for the record, we didn't plan to go early. We were out running errands & saw the short line, then decided to stop on a whim.
**Yes Mom, this picture was taken while I was on the phone with you.

another speech story

One of my speech students is working on idioms -- understanding that little sayings like 'don't let the cat out of the bag' or 'I'm all tied up' are not literal and actually mean something else. I have these cards that have the phrase on one card and the real meaning on another matching card. My student has done really well at memorizing the meanings. His favorite is 'She has a green thumb really means . . . she is good at helping plants & flowers grow.'

Today I learned he hasn't quite grasped the meaning of a green thumb -- he said "I am getting so good at matching these cards because I have a green thumb!"

Better luck to me next week . . .

this post is brought to you by the letter B

Me: What words start with the letter B?
Kindergarten Boy 1: Bubble.
Kindergarten Boy 2: Beer.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

christmas presents

I love buying Christmas presents SO much. So much, in fact, that I agonize over the perfect gift for everybody on my list until I can't sleep at night. When I find the perfect gift, my heart melts & I can hardly contain my enthusiasm -- as a consequence, the cat usually FLIES out of the bag.

Luckily for me, the recipient of this gift doesn't know how to get on the internet & probably wouldn't remember if I told him what his Christmas present was :) I can't wait for my little buddy to open the 'gahgie' and figure out that he barks if you squeeze it's paw.

Ashley, I never thought I would say this -- but the Darth Vader costume was too cute to pass up. I promise I will NEVER buy any of your sons (or daughters) a Star Wars present again!

Happy shopping to all! I can't wait until gift inspiration strikes again!

So for the past 11 days, I have been sick. With croup. Yes, people normally stop getting croup after they turn 8. But not me -- I'm special :) I thought I was getting better until one of my sweet kids stopped the game we were playing and asked "What is wrong with your voice?" And the other boy looked at him and said "Duh! She's still sick." At least I didn't have to use my voice to answer . . .

pondering

Today I have been wondering:

{why} can't I find a pair of skinny jeans I like?
{why} do I even want skinny jeans?
{when} I am going to get my act together & back on a regular exercise routine?
{when} is it going to snow?
{where} will I be living next year?
{where} is the end of this learning curve?
{how} am I supposed to hold IEP meetings when the principal is never at our school?
{how} are all my progress reports going to be done?
