Tonight Cody suprised me by taking me to the little league fields by our house to watch some random games . . . and we picked a doozy.the judo chop
So one team had this monstrous pitcher -- he had to be at least six feet tall. The littlest boy on the other team got up to bat. He swung at the first pitch, the next one was a called strike, so this little guy was thinking that he just needed to swing. The monster pitcher threw some high heat (a good move) and this little guy judo chopped the ball for a base hit RBI into rightfield. It seriously looked like he was chopping wood or throwing an axe into the ground. The ball had to have been at least a foot above the batter's head. But that's not all . . . .

In the next inning another mini boy got up to bat. One of the first pitches was headed straight for his head, so he ducked -- but forgot to bring his bat down with him, one of the cardinal rules of baseball. The ball hit the bat and bounced into FAIR territory. The poor batter was still in shock and didn't even realize to run. The team in the field was just as confused, but they managed to get their bearings about them and throw him out at first.
Hilarious!
And, congrats to Ken Griffey, Jr. (a long-time fav of my brother's) for hitting his 600th home run.

Do you remember when Jeff was being intentionally walked and he swung at a pitch clear outside! That was a classic! Almost as good as when he scored a basket for the opposing team on JV.
We TOTALLY saw something similar two nights ago at a PG Park, the pitcher was like 25 and the hitter was like 12. Totally uneven teams.. I didn't know what was going on. I considered coach pitch? But no coach would throw that quick at a kid. It was weird. Must me a Utah County thing haha
I love this post. Great descriptions of the game. That's an awesome idea for a date! I showed my husband as a sort of "wink, wink" "nudge, nudge" to get him thinking of some creative dates. AND I wink-winked him about your chocolate craving post as well- what an awesome husband who understands chocolate cravings!
