why I love my mom

This morning I got a text from my mom that said : "I am in a fabulous JCrew outlet store . . . what do you want for your birthday?" Within a 1/2 hour, we were on the phone while she was walking through the store telling me EVERYTHING they had and asking what size and colors I wanted. She is so great! The only downer is that my birthday isn't for another three months.

hot date

Last night, Cody & I went on the best date EVER. We got cheapo tacos from Del Taco (3 for 99 cents) and ate them in some abandoned parking lot while we filled out our March Madness brackets. It was awesome :)

The biggest something . . . .

I have spent the last two days in

We (meaning the BYUGSS presidency) we in town for the NAGPS Western Regional conference at the University of Nevada - Reno. They were wonderful hosts and have a beautiful campus with an impressive graduate student lounge . . . something we hope BYU can have eventually. And by eventually, I mean in like 20 years :) We stayed at Circus Circus, which wasn't as sketchy as I originally imagined. We were on a smoke free floor, so that was really great. On the first day of the conference we presented about designing events that match the university's graduate student population. It was kind of scary -- but we survived. I talked for about two minutes and about two hundred miles per hour. At least we all matched. To reward ourselves for a long hard day at the conference, we hit the slots at our hotel. Just kidding! They had a bunch of carnival games that we played. It was extra fun because we got a bunch of 2 for 1 tickets -- so I guess it was twice as fun :) We found this camel racing game that was a mix between skeeball and a race. All four of us could play/compete at once and I must say that I dominated. I won three times and am now the proud owner of a stuffed giraffe, elephant and lion. Woo hoo! If you look close at the picture you can see the camels behind us. In the same area of the hotel, these circus shows would just randomly start. They were hilarious. We saw a juggling act, trapeeze artists, and a bendy person.

And these are some fun random pictures:

I'll just take my honda

So, the professors in my department have another hobby besides teaching . . . go figure! They LOVE (notice I wrote that in all caps) motorcycles. Actually, it's a borderline obsession. Whenever one gets a new bike, another just has to one-up him and buy a new one. Everyone has a motorcycle -- except for Dr. C, whose wife refuses his desires to fit in with the gang.

Today is a beautiful day in Provo -- probably the first time in a while that the professors have been able to ride their motorcycles to school. A couple of them we were walking down the hall on the way to lunch with their helmets on. Dr. C poked his head out of his office and said, "I guess I'll just follow you guys in my Honda!" with the most dejected look on his face. It was so pathetically hilarious that I just had to share -- and it is probably a 'you had to be there' moment too :) Sorry!

Problem Solved

A special thanks to my dear ex-roommate April for the AMAZING Harvard sweatshirt & to my dear current roommate Cody for the AMAZING matching pink moccasins.

Pink Moccasins and Random Pictures

This evening, Cody informed me that he was in a doting mood. He bought me these:

I have no idea what to wear them with . . . any suggestions would be welcome.

I also found these pictures on the camera. I made that amazing pizza over President's Day weekend. Sometimes I have time to cook :) Ha ha!

And this one is from a day when I left the house before Cody got up. When I came home, we were totally twinners. How precious!

Human Captial

Last night, Cody said 'human capital' while we were saying prayers. I started giggling -- irreverent, I know. But honestly, does he ever let school go? Hilarious!
